Well, our objections have now found their way into the local papers – see here for the Ham&High report (this is their photograph)
and here for the one in the Camden New Journal – and a great deal more has emerged to indicate that Camden have been at work on this plan for over a year. However, despite ‘consulting’ with local businesses, effectively no consultation has happened with local residents. (For the full ‘back story’ see here.)
Two of the wonderfully efficient members of the Troyes House Residents Group have unearthed a great deal of information about what has been going on. Even better they have been in touch with the planning department – where I am delighted to say over 60 objections have already been logged and there are still six days to go.
Even better still, they arose with the birds last week to ensure that they got first place at a surgery with our local MP, Keir Starmer before the Labour Party conference opened this week. Keir Starmer has a very good local reputation for caring for his constituents and indeed, he not only promised to look into this personally but has already sent letters requesting information.
However, we do realise that this could be a long fight. Camden are desperate for money, as are all local councils, and this initiative could bring them much needed revenue. We cannot blame them for trying to boost their income – they need the money to run our services. But we absolutely can blame them for doing it with no regard for their residents well being or their wishes….. And we will!
