I am sure that many of you will already have signed up on the new app developed by King’s College, Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals and the NHS. If not, I strongly suggest that you download and sign up.
The app enables everyone to monitor their health daily, whether well or ill, and report the results into a central databank. The data gathered, by enabling researchers to better understand the symptoms linked to underlying health conditions, will help them identify high risk COVID-19 areas, who is most at risk and how fast the virus is spreading in each area.
It is super easy to download and takes 1 minute per day to self report.
The other good bit of news, as reported in the Guardian today, is that 15 minute home test kits for the virus are soon to be available on the high street or for home delivery via Amazon. Assuming that they are sufficiently reliable (testing of the kits is going on now) this will make a massive difference to everyday lives, allowing many thousands (or possibly hundreds of thousands) of NHS workers especially, who are currently self isolating as they don’t know whether they have the virus, to return to work. Roll on….
