The 2023 FreeFrom Food Awards are now open. And if you were wondering – yes, they are opening a bit later than usual this year to allow us to line up our new Easter and Christmas awards with the festivities that they celebrate. So as of this year:

3rd January 2023

Opening of both Easter Awards and the main FreeFrom Food Awards

9th February 2023

Announcement of Easter Awards winners

May 2023

Announcement of main awards winners

September – November 2023

Christmas Awards

Why you should enter

  • The FFFA entrant, shortlisted or winners’ logos are instantly recognisable and are trusted by freefrom consumers across the UK and beyond. What better way to promote your product?
  • And…. the FFFA logos are totally free of charge if you enter, are shortlisted or win
  • Expert judging & invaluable feedback – every product is judged by a panel of freefrom experts and their feedback (costing thousands if you had to pay for it) is freely available to all entrants. Especially if you are developing new products, this is reason enough to enter on its own.
  • Entrants will feature on all our social platforms with a combined following of over 16,000.

Categories

All of the main categories still feature – breakfast, grocery, breads, pastas, main meals, snacks, desserts and confectionery, gluten free beers and low/no alc drinks.

Plus other well established categories such as Almost Totally FreeFrom, Innovation, Food Service, Child and Teen Friendly Foods, Gifting, Digital presence and Start Up of the Year.

And, new for 2023 –

    • Keto
    • Meal kits and on line meal plans
    • An International Recognition category – designed to recognise quality & innovation in free from food and drink outside of the UK market, potentially helping brands build awareness in the UK

Costs

Bearing in mind that our entrants are all struggling with the horrendous escalation in energy and production costs this year, we are freezing our entry prices for one more year – and we have now scaled them more accurately to the size of the entrant’s turnover.  See this page for some guidance.

And of course we are offering our usual 10% discount for all entries received before January 17th.

Sponsorship

The awards offer excellent sponsorship opportunities to companies large and small – and we are delighted to say that many of our sponsors are now old friends. Indeed, some have been with us from the very first days of the awards 15 years ago.

Sponorship enables sponsors to become familiar (and raise their profile) with hundreds of freefrom-ers – entrants, consumers, bloggers, press and judges  – while demonstrating their commitment to one of the largest growing sectors of the UK food & drink market.

For sponsorship opportunites go here or email Cressida direct.

So, do it!!

When times are tough you need to be brave. To believe in your products and to go out there and promote them.

What better a way to do that than to give them a chance of winning one of those massively valued bright yellow FreeFrom Food Awards winning logos!

A food fad won’t kill you – an allergy will

There has been a predictable outcry in the allergy world this week’s in response to Rachel Johnson’s piece in Thursday’s Evening Standard on ‘dietary requirements’ and food fads. Being charitable, I am assuming that she has never suffered from or lived with someone with a food allergy. However, I do have some sympathy with her …

Bioplastics – a solution or part of the problem?

Everyday Plastic is a social enterprise group using accessible learning and publicity campaigns to reduce the amount of plastics used daily in our society. It was founded by its current director Daniel Webb who, having moved to Margate in Kent in 2016, was horrified to discover that there were no plastic recycling options on offer.  …

FreeFrom Christmas Awards – the Winners

Since they were launched two years ago the FreeFrom Christmas Awards have been a great success. And how lucky are ‘freefrom-ers’ these days!  From Advent calendars to gifts, party food to Christmas dinner, there is no longer any need for them to miss out. Indeed, the whole family can happily eat freefrom and never know …

Do not extradite Julian Assange to the US

Julian Assange is being sought by the current US administration for publishing US government documents which exposed war crimes and human rights abuses. The politically motivated charges represent an unprecedented attack on press freedom and the public’s right to know – seeking to criminalise basic journalistic activity. Assange is facing a 175-year sentence for publishing …

What to believe – applying critical thought

For the average citizen evaluating the claims made for cure all – or even improve all – health products and procedures has always been difficult. Not only is it an area in which we have minimal expertise but most of us have a vested interest in finding a miracle intervention that will solve our health …

Could wireless monitoring devices be killing racehorses?

Regular readers may remember that back in August last year I alerted you to a posting on Arthur Firstenberg’s Cellphone Task Force site about phone masts and bird flu. Could there be a connection between the fact that the two wildlife sites in Holland and Northern France which had suffered catastrophic bird flu deaths were …
