You may remember that I blogged – or indeed you may have read it elsewhere – about the link tracked by an MIT researcher, Stephanie Seneff, between the use of the glyphosate (as in the pesticide, RoundUp) and the rise in autism and coeliac over the last 25 years. Her claims about the toxicity of glyphosate did not include carcinogenicity but suggested that it could have such a dramatically awful effect on the body that the chances of it contracting cancer had to be greatly increased.
Well, now the World Health Organisation (WHO) has also accused glyphosate of being carcinogenic – in this monograph pubished in March this year. Hopefully this will bolster the EU’s reluctance to allow more GM-Roundup-tolerant crops to cross the Atlantic.
