The FreeFrom Christmas Awards presentation – not the image that you would expect of us all whooping it up in a room together but at least we were live this time. And you were pretty ‘live’ too! You may have been sitting at home on your sofas, but you were taking full advantage of our interactive awards room chatting away to each other for nearly an hour after the presentation ended.
The pandemic has definitely changed the way that FFFA presentations happen. May 2020, at the height of lockdown, saw Cressida and I each sitting at home and prerecording our bits to then be edited together in Richmond; by March this year we at least managed to get together in one studio to make the recording – and then we got you all together in our first interactive Evessio Awards Room.
And this time, one step closer…. Even if we were not all together we were at least talking to you live and not pre-canned! But that meant that here in Hampstead Lane, Tuesday was a pretty full on day. Live recording requires a truly amazing amount of gear not to mention people – here are Rich and Steve having a well earned cuppa having unloaded only half of it.
And then there was ‘creating the set’. On one of the many monitors you can see our Christmas grotto – Nicki’s Christmas tree and a selection of Cressida’s and my Christmas tree decorations and lights pinned to the blind.
And then what to wear? Cressida was finally banned from wearing her rather cosily fitting Father Christmas outfit –
although we did allow her to wear the amazing Christmas hat, donated to us by our lovely Asda judges – even though you cannot really see it in its full glory here.
But, whatever about the presentation, the winners were fantastic. Check this out for an alternative Chistmas dinner pudding – Morrison’s Best FreeFrom Gingerbread and Butterscotch Sponge Pudding –
Or this for an extraordinarily convincing vegan blue cheese from La Fauxmagerie?
And at the risk of giving Cressida too much coverage, her face when she saw it…..
