The last week has been a mad dash to get our FreeFrom Christmas site up and running by its deadline of – today… But we made it – and are rather pleased with the results.
The idea was to give allergy and intolerance sufferers, coeliacs and those with problem skins lots of ideas about what they might be able to eat, drink and give/receive as gifts without suffering some kind of unpleasant reaction which will ruin their holiday.
So, we have ideas for foods that you can buy – both the traditional, but very tasty, gluten/dairy-free cakes, puddings and yummy mince pies, and the more unusual: soya and rice based, dairy-free whipping creams, dairy-free advent calendars, genuinely soya-free turkeys….
And plenty of ideas for foods that you can make. I have pulled over 20 ‘everything-free’ recipes out of my files which include traditional Christmas dishes and some other festive, but less conventional recipes such as salmon fillet wrapped in Parma ham, pheasant casseroled with chestnuts or upside-down Christmas cake.
We also have an article from John Lang at Good Wine on Line and links to some sulphite-free wine. This could offer a rare treat to those who are sulphite sensitive and for whom all wines are normally right off the menu.
Micki Rose has some really helpful suggestions as to how to stay allergen aware and reaction free over the holiday while those who really lust after Christmas on the slopes might want to consider the Alikats Mountain holiday freefrom offer!
And finally, for those of you who fancy either receiving or giving some pampering, Alex Gazzola has done a great round up of freefrom skincare products and gift packs that include everything from sweet almond and goat’s milk shaving cream from Weleda to a rosemary, geranium and cedarwood Chi reviving gift set from Bodhi Therapies….
Enjoy!!
